The cable car usually operates in the rain, but it may temporarily stop due to strong winds or storms. In such cases, it’s important to monitor the weather and updates from the lift operators.

How do we transport luggage to the chalet?

If the weather conditions are suitable (dry road), luggage transport from the top station of the cable car to Zeleni rob is available for an additional fee. However, it’s still recommended to take the luggage via the chairlift, as it brings you to the same point as the vehicle transport.

Is parking at the cable car station paid?

No, parking at the cable car station is free of charge.

How much time is needed to visit Velika Planina?

A visit to Velika Planina is recommended for at least 2 to 3 hours if you want to explore and enjoy nature, but it can take longer if you decide to go hiking or visit the shepherd’s huts.

Are dogs allowed on the cable car and chairlift?

Yes, dogs are allowed on the cable car but need to be on a leash and may require a muzzle (a muzzle can be rented at the cable car ticket counter). Smaller dogs that can be held in the owner’s lap are allowed on the chairlift as well.

Does the return ticket apply for the next day?

Velika Planina is beautiful in all seasons. Each season offers something different: in spring, crocuses cover the meadows; in summer, cows graze and shepherds come up; in autumn, the planina is adorned with a palette of warm colors, peace, and golden larches; and in winter, it’s a fairytale white landscape with sledding and skiing on the snowy slopes.

When is the least crowded time on the cable car?

The least crowded times are before 10:00 AM and after 2:00 PM. In August, it’s recommended to go as early as possible, as the first cable car leaves at 8:00 AM.

Does the cable car run more frequently in case of high visitor numbers?

If I am delayed due to traffic, will the cable car wait?

The cable car usually does not wait, as it follows a specific schedule. It is advisable to leave early to avoid missing the ride.

How long does it take to walk from the top cable car station to Zeleni rob or the shepherd’s settlement?

It takes about 35 to 45 minutes to walk to Zeleni rob, and around 60 minutes to the shepherd’s settlement, depending on your pace and the path.

When do crocuses bloom?

The bloom of crocuses depends on weather conditions (temperature, amount of snow). Under ideal conditions, the main bloom usually occurs in the second half of April when the snow melts, and the full bloom lasts around 10 to 14 days.
