Walks and hiking

The winter wonderland offers excellent opportunities for walks or longer hikes across the plateau.

Upon exiting the cable car, you can continue your journey via the chairlift or hike to the top of the plateau on foot. If you choose to hike, please stay along the edge of the ski slope. After approximately 30 minutes of a gentle ascent, you will reach the Zeleni Rob inn, where you can refresh yourself or continue your hike toward the herdsmen’s settlement.

Velika Planina features a network of well-marked walking trails. In case of fresh snowfall, we recommend renting snowshoes for a more enjoyable experience.

Our suggestion: a walk past the herdsmen’s settlement onto Mala planina.

From the Zeleni Rob inn, continue along the road and follow the signs for the herdsmen’s settlement-Mala Planina. After 15 minutes of walking, you will reach the herdsmen’s settlement, which holds a special charm even during the winter months. In good weather, you can enjoy the sight of shepherds’ huts covered in a blanket of snow, glistening in the sunlight. Here, you can end your walk or continue toward Mala Planina, which is an additional 30-minute walk.

In addition to the smaller herdsmen’s settlement on Mala Planina, you will also find three mountain lodges where you can enjoy tea and a hearty mountain snack.

There are also pleasant walking options in the direction of Planina Konjšica and Planina Dol.

Our suggestion: a walk to mountain Dol.

Continue past the Zeleni Rob guesthouse along the road, and after a few hundred meters, turn left. Follow the signs for Planina Konjšica and Planina Dol. After approximately 15 minutes of walking, you will reach Planina Konjšica, from where you can descend to Dol.

For those looking for a longer hike, you can reach Planina Dol via the mountain trail from the Kamniška Bistrica valley (Kamniška Bistrica – Velika Planina – 2.45 hours).
