Night sledding is a special experience – an almost 3 kilometer long sledding track and a sled ride under the stars await us. Before the start of sledding, an experienced sledder will first explain the sledding techniques and take the first ride with you, so that your sledding experience will be even more fun.
When you arrive at the lower station of the swing, you will be met by a local guide, an experienced sledder, who will accompany you on the swing to Velika Planina. Before the start of the sledding, you will be refreshed with mountain cheese and homemade bread, get to know a short presentation of night sledding on Velika planina, and get some important tips on sledding techniques. Then you will get your sled, protective helmet, headlamp and thermos of hot, mountain tea, for which the herbs are collected on Velika planina. Together with your guide, you will go on a new six-seater, built in 2023, which meets the highest standards and is quiet, economical, environmentally friendly and follows sustainable tourism development guidelines. Take the chairlift to the starting point, from where the nearly 3-kilometer long toboggan run runs. You will learn sledding techniques in practice, the guide will explain everything you need to know about sledding and the track itself. Safety, correct technique and compliance with the rules of the toboggan run are important. On the way, you will stop, warm yourself with tea and admire the views of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps and the Ljubljana basin. If the weather is clear, at sunset you will be able to admire the view all the way to Triglav, Nanos and Snežnik. You will continue with descents along the track to the finish line and with chairlift rides to the start of the track. You will do four descents and you will notice that each descent is different – The first descent takes place at the beginning of the sunset, the next one when the sun is already setting and the sky turns orange, and in each subsequent descent you will enjoy the starry sky, the moonlight and the outline Alp.
After the last descent, you will be refreshed with far and away the best sweet curd štrukli in the Zeleni rob inn. Excellent štrukli will give you strength for the final descent down the track to the upper station of the pendulum, where the guide returns the equipment and accompanies you to the valley with the pendulum. During the swing ride, you will have one last wonderful view of the Ljubljana Basin and the Kamnik-Savinj Alps.
