Skiing on Velika planina

Velika Planina ski resort is located at an altitude between 1412 and 1666 meters and offers 3.5 kilometers of well-maintained ski slopes, most of which are intermediate-level. Due to its varied terrain and friendly atmosphere, it has been a popular choice for families seeking a skiing experience near Ljubljana for many years.

A key addition in 2023 is the modern six-seat chairlift, which takes you from Šimnovec to the top of the mountain in just five minutes, providing a quick and comfortable route to the excellently groomed slopes. This season, the Jurček drag lift and a conveyor belt for beginners and young skiers will also be in operation.

In addition to skiing activities, the resort offers much more. Near the Jurček lift, you’ll find an adventure park and a resting area where visitors can relax and enjoy the stunning winter views. During the winter holidays, Velika Planina also hosts a ski school offering a wide range of programs, including private lessons, weekend courses, and sessions during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

For further relaxation, you can enjoy a warm drink or a quick snack at the Skodla refreshment hut, while the Zeleni Rob restaurant, located near the Šimnovec chairlift exit, offers delicious homemade dishes.

Outside of the winter holidays, school groups can rent the slopes near the Jurček lift on Mondays and Tuesdays. These slopes are adapted for both skiers and tobogganers, providing an organized and safe winter experience for students in the pleasant environment of Velika Planina.

At the upper station of the cable car, ski equipment rental is also available.
