Since the doubleseat lift is no longer in operation during the summer season due to the construction of a new, modern, ecological and safer 6-seater chairlift, we have prepared some tips for you so that you can set off to Velika planina prepared and be familiar with all the information.
CABLECAR
Cablecar starts to Velika planina from Kamniška Bistrica. The parking lot in Kamniška Bistrica is free and open 24/7. The cablecar operates according to the published schedule, from morning to late afternoon. You can buy ticket online or at the ticket office. It operates every half hour. In there are more people, the cablecar operates even more often. You can see the price list of the cablecar HERE. When we ascend with the cablecar to the upper station, we are at a height of 1412 m. Before visiting Velika planina, check the weather conditions. In the summer months, I advise everyone to go to the mountain in the morning, as the weather often deteriorates in the afternoon (afternoon storms).

PATH FROM THE UPPER STATION OF CABLECAR TO THE RESTAURANT ZELENI ROB
Since the chairlift will not be in operation from 24/05/2023 due to the construction of a new chairlift, you will have to walk up from the cablecar to the Zeleni rob restaurant. A slight ascent awaits you, about 30 – 40 minutes of walking. From the cablecar you continue straight along the macadam path. When you reach the foot of the ski slope, you can continue along the macadam path (green arrows – a flatter, slightly longer path) or climb up the ski slope (yellow arrows – a steeper path). Gostilna Zeleni rob is located at 1612 meters above sea level, so you will overcome 200 meters above sea level on this route. The route is also suitable for less physically fit people. In any case, suitable hiking shoes are mandatory. The route is not suitable for wheelchairs or baby carriages.
SUBSTITUTE TRANSPORTATION BY VAN FROM THE UPPER STATION OF CABLE CAR TO ZELENI ROB RESTAURANT
All visitors are offered alternative transport by vans from the upper station of the pendulum to the Zeleni rob inn. It is recommended to book transport in advance. All important information is available at the LINK.
THE PATH FROM THE ZELENI ROB RESTAURANT TO THE SHEPHERD SETTLEMENT
When you are at the Zeleni rob restaurant, you will have another 10-15 minutes of easy walking to the shepherd’s settlement. The path is gentle, at the end the path descends slightly into the village. Numerous hiking trails branch off along Velika planina, all the way to Mala, Gojška and Stolniška planina. FOOD AND DRINK
You can have refreshments on Velika Planina every day of the year. The Zeleni rob inn and mountain huts on Mali planina are open all year round, and in the summer months you can also enjoy a shepherd’s lunch at the shepherds’ house. When you go to the hills on summer days, take with you enough liquid, sunscreen and a hat. We also recommend that you go to the hills and mountains in the morning, as afternoon showers are common.
